Our Team

Our family, here for yours.

ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH

Our team are vetted to a very high standard when joining. This includes an in-depth interview, reference checks, Enhanced DBS checks (previously called CRB Checks)  and sign declarations to ensure they are healthy and able to work with children. Supervisors hold an NVQ 3 in playwork or equivalent and we aim to have everyone trained up in the company with a professional qualification. At least 50% of the team in each Link Club has Paediatric First Aid and Food Safety Certificate.

Directors are a parent daughter team with over 60 years combined experience with children. Together we ensure our staff are supported, have access to training and continue their development in the childcare field. We overlook the running of each club and liaise with outside agencies to ensure quality in our clubs.

JK Link Clubs Ltd was created by, the late, Joyce Kernahan, in 1994 and was one of the first of these Out of School Play schemes in Warrington. We are a company that provides care for children from ages 4-12 years old. Focusing on play, we provide breakfast and afterschool clubs in many settings.

About Joyce

Joyce began JK (Joyce Kernahan) Link Clubs in 1994 when her Daughter was a pupil at St Matthews Primary School. Joyce was asked by the governors to open St Matthews Link Club and from this she was asked by each of the other schools in the area to open more at their sites a year or two later. From that small service back in 1994, JK Link Clubs has grown from strength to strength with her daughter joining the team back in 2005, together they become joint directors and ran the business together. Joyce passed in November 2018 and will be missed by many. Her legacy continues to live on in JK Link Clubs  ran by her daughter Davina.

About Davina

Davina originally trained in Musical Theatre and worked abroad as an entertainer in superfamily hotels for Thomson Holidays. Davina gained experience in running the children and adults entertainment program for the holiday makers and on her return, decided that she wanted to settle down and began working for Joyce as a playworker. After completing her Level 3 NVQ in playwork and in Childcare Learning and Development Davina worked in a near by nursery and became Supervisor of one of the Link Clubs. Seeing that the company could do with a little modern technology Davina then took over doing all the paperwork and finally became Director along side her mum running all of the Link Clubs and staff in 2009. Since becoming Director Davina has a Level 2 in AAT Accounting and Level 4 ILM in Management and Leadership, Level 7 (post graduate level) ILM in Management and Leadership, Level 3 Special Educational Needs, and finally, has completed a professional course in Nutrition. Davina has two young children, Toby (8) and Jenson (6) and lives with her husband in Appleton.

We have three Link Clubs based in schools in the South Warrington area.
